Jordan Peterson’s View on Free Speech

By With No comments:
Every person has several rights that he needs to exercise without causing harm to others. Just because someone has a right does not mean that he can arbitrarily use it. This is one of the reasons why specific laws and statutes exist for the sole purpose of limiting one’s exercise of a right.

However, the problem comes in when the regulating body imposes limitations that make it difficult for a particular individual to exercise his right.

It is what Jordan Peterson is advocating for everyone. He wants to emphasize that one of the fundamental rights of every citizen is his freedom of speech. It pertains to one’s right to articulate their ideas and opinions about a particular topic, without too many restrictions from the legislative body. Everyone must be free to speak his thoughts without the fear of censorship or retaliation from any governmental agency.

Here is what you need to learn about this controversial author:

Jordan B. Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist, cultural critic, and professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. His book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos, provides practical principles for how to live a meaningful life: from setting your house in order before criticising others, to comparing yourself to who you were yesterday, not someone else today. The NY Times recently called him “The most influential public intellectual in the Western world right now.”
